Women in Youth Ministry originated as a Facebook group, which launched in early 2014. Since, we’ve been a community for a growing group of women who have found a safe place to share their joys and struggles.
Our Values
Our mission is simple: over 50% of youth workers are female, but youth ministry content is dominated by male voices. Our mission is to elevate the voices of women in a male-saturated field. We do this through our Facebook community, blog, podcast, coaching, and our annual conference.
Our Values are:
- Safety: We believe that women distinctly need a safe space to be themselves; we foster a space for deep connection without fear of retaliation for what we believe or who we are.
- Diversity: We believe that we are better when we are next to people different from us; we intentionally include women of different denominations, church sizes, races, sexual orientations, and gender expressions both in our community and in leadership.
- Bravery: We believe in boldly confronting norms around church leadership; we encourage women to live into their call and equip them with the tools to do so confidently and capably.

OUR LEADER: Heather Lea Campbell
Heather’s first love is youth ministry, and her second love is youth ministers. Heather Lea Campbell (she/her) has served in full-time youth ministry since 2010, serving various congregations and denominations. Heather serves The Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis as the Diocesan Youth Minister, resourcing youth and their youth leaders. Heather is also the Founder & CEO of Women in Youth Ministry, an organization that celebrates the leadership of women. A certified leadership coach, Heather is most energized when helping people discover and utilize their gifts.
Heather founded Women in Youth Ministry in 2014 as a response to seeing women struggle to find community and their voices.
